Learning French

Hi bloggers, today before tech we got to do something quite fun. We got to learn French! Mr G first taught us lot's of words in French and then we had to find a partner and say or write a whole conversation in french. I did this with my friend kayla. Have you ever learnt a language before?

 

Fun art project

 

Kia Ora bloggers, on Tuesday two art teachers came into our classroom to teach us some art. First we chose a type of bird to paint. We got to use different materials such as feathers and stencils. I finished early so I got to paint another bird. After that we practised cutting and ripping coloured pieces of paper to make a cool background. Once we finished our practice background we made our real background. We then put our bird on to the background with some glue. It was so fun and nice of them to come in and teach us some art. Have you ever painted before?

Maori animation

Hi bloggers this week its Maori language week! and for the past week we have been working on a Maori animation. In our animation we had to include 12 different Maori words. Have you ever made a Maori animation before? I hope you enjoy it!

 Hi bloggers as you know we are still in lock down so we are still doing online school. Today we learned 

about a young girl called Malala Yousafzai who grew up in Pakistan. We first read an article about her and 

then we needed to find the definition of some words and then we got to create our own fact file video on 

bite-able. Have you ever used bite-able before?

Pompeii

Hi bloggers learning is a little different for most of us write now 

because where in lock down. But in literacy our task was to read a 

articular and watch a video on a place called Pompeii. After we read 

the  articular about it we then had to do our create task which was to 

make a poster on canva about Pompeii.  Have you ever heard of a 

place called Pompeii before?

 

Limerick and Hique poem

Hi bloggers in literacy we have been looking at hiques and limericks. First i'll talk about hiques, A hique is a poem that has 3 sentences the first sentence and the last  sentence both have to have 5 syllables and the 2nd sentence has to have 7 syllables.  And a limerick is also a poem that has 5 sentences but the first second and last sentence all need the last word of the sentence to rhyme and then the second and third sentence of the last word need to rhyme as well. We wrote our poems in our book first and then typed them on canva. Have you ever written a limerick or hique before?

 

Aladdin production

 Hi bloggers, for the past 12 weeks we have been working really hard on our Aladdin production. My 

character that I played was Isir which is Jasmines attendant and friend. This week was when all our hard 

work payed off because it was the performance. There were two casts Tahi and Rau  each cast had 2 

performances we had lots of props and even got a  big stage put into the school hall. We even had head 

mikes! it is quite sad that Aladdin is all finished but it was definitely an amazing experience. Have you

Giraffe information report

Hi bloggers for the past couple weeks we have been doing information reports. About a month ago we went to Orana park and we gathered information on some endangered animals and learnt lots about them. We got to choose one of those animals to do our information report on. I chose Giraffes. Once we wrote our information report we published it onto Adobe spark. What is your favourite endangered animal?

STEAM challenge

Hi bloggers today in Toara we did a STEAM challenge which stands for Science, technology, engineering, art and maths . We had to get into groups of 5, Our challenge was to make a tower/table and fit as many books on top as we can The books approximately weighed about a couple kg's. We were only aloud to use 10 pieces of paper and 1 metre of tape. Our group worked quite well but sadly we didn't finish our tower, I didn't think it would hold any books. But I was wrong  even though we didn't finish our tower managed to hold 10 books!  Have you ever done a STEAM challenge like this before?

Chocolate chip cookie review

In Mr Shaw's maths we got to bake what ever we wanted our group chose chocolate chip cookies. Sadly our cookies didn't turn out to well they all joined together so we had to cut them into slices they were very crumbly, But they still tasted good. We also used way to much butter but not enough flour. Have you ever baked chocolate chip cookies before?

Hectors Dolphin video

Hi bloggers, in literacy we have been learning about endangered animals in New Zealand. We read articles about Sea birds, Kiwis, NZ sea lions and Hectors dolphins. We got to choose one of those endangered animals to do a slideshow/ video on. I chose the Hectors dolphin because I have seen one before and they are very cute, cool and fascinating.

Matariki Art

Hi bloggers in Toara we have been learning about Matariki.

For the past couple weeks we have been doing Matariki art.

We practised drawing it on draft copies of paper. I decided to do mountains and stars in the background.

The mountains represent  Mount Cook and the stars represent Matariki. 

Once we had our draft copies finished we got a piece of A4 foam and drew our art onto the foam in a pen.

Then we painted our foam in two colours of our choice. I chose purple & orange, After that  you put a 

piece of  paper on the top of your foam and print it to the paper. I liked doing this art because it turned 

out really cool. Next time I could make it neater. Have you ever done Matariki art like this before?

Perimeter, Volume and Area

 

Hi bloggers for the past couple weeks we have been learning about perimeter, volume and Area. We did some work sheets and quizzes on the perimeter, volume and area. Then we had to do a slide of what the perimeter, volume and Area is, and how to work it out. Do you like finding and working out the perimeter, volume and area?

S.T.E.A.M Challenge

Hi bloggers every Wednesday we do some science today we did something called S.T.E.A.M which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. The challenge was to drop a egg from the top of the stairs with out it cracking, we got into groups of 6. You were aloud to use 3 pieces of  A4 paper

1 pieces of A5 paper  2 metres of tape, a plastic bag and some string. Our idea was to put the egg inside and scrunch up the paper to make a nest to protect the egg we taped it all together and put it in the plastic bag we had 25 minuted to do this. And then miss Osborn dropped it from the top of stairs, Sadly ours cracked.    Have you ever done a challenge like that before?

Hi bloggers every 2 years there is a school Aladdin production, I decided to be in it but  when I am not practising I do some Aladdin themed tasks . For this task you had to draw a character from Aladdin on pixel art. I decided to do the Genie. Have you ever used pixel art  before?
 

Save our Chimpanzees- Sanctuary

In literacy we have been learning about the impact that humans can have on wild animals. This week we have been learning and reading about Chimpanzees, these animals are extremely endangered. They  are getting hunted for meat, habitats are being destroyed and pet trade. A couple in Liberia have made it there mission to save the chimpanzees from pet trade. Our task was to create a Chimpanzee sanctuary on mine craft education, In my sanctuary  I have include climbing obstacles, places for Chimpanzees to sleep fruits, and lots of trees! This week was fun learning lot's about Chimpanzees, but it was also heart braking that where the problem Chimpanzees are dyeing. I got my information from two books on epic.com chimpanzees and endangered chimpanzees. We also watched snip-its of  a documentary called baby chimp rescue on TVNZ on Demand.

For literacy we have been learning about the Gallipoli war. Have you ever learnt about the Gallipoli war  before? For our create task we used a app called mote. We pretended to be a soldier writing a letter home to someone in our family, Then we recorded ourselves reading our letter.

Caesar The Red Cross Hero

For literacy we having been looking at a very special dog, Who worked in the war as a red cross dog, His name is Caesar. We read an article about Caesar and wrote down important notes and bullet points about him. Then we wrote a summery about Caesar using ideas from the bullet points. We needed to make sure we put it in Chronological order.

In literacy we have been reading and watching videos about the Gallipoli War. Our task was to create a poster on canva and write about life in the Gallipoli war. The Gallipoli war was not a fun time.

Hundertwasser Art.

Hi bloggers a couple weeks ago we were looking at a famous artist his name is Hundertwasser . He uses a lot of colours in his art and uses no straight lines. Our task was to create a piece of art based on Hundertwasser . I put loads of colours into my art and no straight lines, I put some lollipop trees and onion domes in my art. Fun storyboard

 

For literacy we have been reading Refugee by Alan Gratz.   We looked at the main character, and picked 3 words to describe them.  I picked Determined, brave and scared.

For our create task, we had to use Storyboard that, and pick one of our describing words to storyboard.  We needed to think about what happened just before that scene, and just after and how we could show emotion in our characters face.

I decided to do determined , I showed this through when Isabel found out her Neighbours were escaping to america form Cuba, and she was determined to get to Cuba  so she begged to go with them and they finally said yes.

Anzac Cove landing by the ANZAC

In literacy at the moment we are learning about WW1 and in particular, the role the ANZACS played in it.

We know that the ANZACS landed at ANZAC cove on April 25th, 1915.  They arrived by boat, and were greeted by a beach that was in chaos, steep, rugged cliffs and the Turks firing at them from the top of the cliffs.

Many men lost their lives that day, many never made it to the beach.  The ones that did were about to start a long journey filled with tears, despair and sadness.

This animation is to show the landing at ANZAC Cove.

Mine craft education Refugee camp

Over the past three weeks in literacy, we have been reading about refugees and looking at what refugee camps look like.  

Do you know that there are millions of refugees currently living in refugee camps all over the world.  These people have had to flee their home countries due to war, unrest, famine, riots, terrorist attacks and more.  Some have been living in these camps for years, with no sign of leaving.

The conditions are terrible.  There are lots of disease, crowded living areas, they are hot in summer and freezing in winter.

Our task was to recreate a refugee camp in Mine craft education, incorporating all the things we had learnt about them.

Fun Comic Strip!

 Today we got to look at a comic strip and explain what was happening in it. After that we got to draw the next seen to it. Basically what happen  is that this girl was going to a disco with her friend, until these other people came up and excluded her, cause she had a lazy eye. In the end they all became friends and danced with each other. Have you ever drawn your own comic strip?

Today for inquiry we had to act like we were ever a European settler or a Maori getting ready to sign the Treaty of Waitangi then we had to write a script on what we would say, and how we would feel. Keeping Our Self Safe!

Hi bloggers  today we got to make our own posters  on keeping our selves safe first we read a little story about a boy you got left home alone, and someone kept knocking on the door and saying open up, then we had to write options on what he could do. My highlight on camp!!

 Hi bloggers, Last week we got to go on camp to wainui, it was amazing. My favourite activity was kayaking, have you ever been kayaking before? If you haven't I would definitely recommend it because it was really fun. So overall Wainui was amazing.
